Supreme Court on NEET 2024: The Supreme Court today gave a big decision while hearing the petition to cancel the NEET UG exam. The court has rejected the demand to cancel the exam and has also said that the paper will be held again only for some students. These are the students who were given grace marks in the name of compensation for ‘loss of time’. In this way, the exam will be held again for a total of 1563 candidates and not for all the students.
The exam will be held on this date
NEET UG 2024 exam will be conducted again on 23rd June. On this day, the exam will be conducted only for those 1563 students who have been given grace marks. Thus it has also become clear that the court has rejected the students’ demand to cancel the examination. The court has said to conduct the examination again only for these students.
Let us tell you that NTA had also said in its clarification earlier that this is not the case of 24 lakh students (all of whom have given NEET UG exam this year) but only of 1500 students. Thus, the court’s reply on the allegations of other irregularities in the NEET exam is yet to come. At present, these 1500 students will have to give the NEET exam again.
Results should be declared by this date
The Supreme Court has also said that the results of those 1563 candidates for whom re-examination is conducted should be declared by 30 June. The committee has decided that the results of those candidates who were given grace marks due to shortage of time should be cancelled. These students will have to appear for the NEET exam again.
Those who don’t want to take the exam again
The Supreme Court also said in the hearing that those candidates who do not want to take the exam again can accept their score as it is but their grace marks will be removed. The marks left after removing the grace marks will be considered as the final number. In such a situation, they can choose not to take the exam again.
Also know that no candidate can appear in the re-examination; only those candidates can appear who have received grace marks.
There will be no ban on counseling
Also know that in one of the petitions filed today, it was said to stop counseling. On this, the Supreme Court has clarified that counseling will not be stopped and if the examination goes ahead as per its scheduled schedule, then many candidates will suffer a loss due to not getting the counseling process done.
